READING Television Receivers: Digital Video for DTV, Cable, and Satellite
The familiar television receiver is undergoing revolutionary changes in the first years of digital television, just as audio systems did in the 1970s: to deal with the myriad of new broadcast options (conventional analog, DTV, cable, satellite, Internet broadcast, VCR, PVR) consumer electronics manufacturers are dividing the traditional TV set into four components, display (the screen), storage, the audio system, and the tuner. This work examines, in tutorial fashion, the design, specification, installation and maintenance of analog and digital television receiving devices and systems. Key features include DTV receiver systems, cable and satellite TV receivers, Internet broadcast receivers and interactive videoconferencing.
